Intro to
Studio Art

By bringing the core elements and principles of art to the forefront, Intro To Studio Art provides a foundation for drawing, painting, printmaking, and ceramics to flourish. Wakefield students are encouraged to embrace the process of mastering techniques and taking the necessary risks to create art outside of their comfort zones.

Studio 1

Students will develop and enhance their awareness, skills, and understanding of the visual world through a thorough study of design principles and observational practices. Our instructor introduces a wide array of materials and methods including traditional and historical practices as well as those more contemporary and innovative. The overarching goal is for students to critically understand the visual structure of objects and scenes, in works of art and design.

Advanced
Studio

In this course, motivated, independent students will have the opportunity to develop their portfolio with the guidance and expertise of the faculty member. Students may combine media or explore a single process and push the boundaries of that material. The goal is for the student to develop a portfolio based on cohesive topics or themes.  Frequent critiques in the studio will take place to help students advance and improve as well as meet deadlines mimicking the professional art world.
