Jahayra was drawn to education during her teenage years while babysitting her sister, Kyomi, in Lima, Peru. This inspired her to pursue teaching after completing her first annual teaching course, which provided her with a valuable blend of learning in the classroom and firsthand teaching observation in a real educational setting. Jahayra loves the Wakefield community and feels teachers are held to the highest standard in both academics and character development. Also, she admires the view of the Virginia landscape from atop the hill each season. She enjoys active crafts, nature walks, dancing, playing board games, gardening, organizing, decorating, and dressing up for holidays. Additionally, she loves acquiring new culinary skills and cherishes moments with her husband, friends, family, her dog Pursey, and her Beta fish Baxter.
