BA in History, James Madison University (1993)

Lon comes to Wakefield after 26 years of teaching in the Fairfax County Public Schools, with the last 17 years at Westfield High School. During that time, he taught AP US History, AP European History, Ancient Civilizations, Economics, Current Events, Philosophy, and World Faiths. Lon also coached girls' and women's soccer at the club, high school, and collegiate levels for 23 years. He was born and raised in the small, rural town of Litchfield in the Berkshire Hills of northwestern Connecticut and understands the benefits of growing up in a tight-knit community. Both of his parents were lifelong educators, with his mother teaching Middle School English and Social Studies for 35 years and his father as a Professor of Kinesiology at Central Connecticut State University for 30+ years. Lon is an avid mountain biker, a voracious reader, and takes great pride in the activities and accomplishments of his two teenage daughters.
