From grasping the roots of English words and conquering grammar to situating our present morals and sensibilities within the context of the ancient world, Latin is a grand subject to compare and contrast our modern lives. After a combined five years of teaching Latin at the college level and English to middle and high school students in New Mexico, Makaila is thrilled to share her love of Latin and the classical world with the students at Wakefield. When not planning lessons on principal parts and encouraging students to drop words like ergo and pulchritudinous into casual conversation, Makaila can be found conquering the NYT crossword, baking more desserts than needed, and telling her dogs they're beautiful.
