Community

When canvassing the students concerning what they love about Wakefield, there always seems to be a common theme – they love the community!

Whether it’s a supportive teacher who is willing to tutor after class, a Lower School and an Upper School "buddy" greeting each other, a staff member planning an exciting event, a parent volunteering to sell concessions, or the Head of School who always offers a listening ear, we value the welcoming environment of a close-knit community. Many alumni have returned to Wakefield to share their experiences with our current students, and over the years several have chosen to further their careers here as well. There is even a theatrical production each year, heralded as "Archwood Community Theater," in which students from all three divisions join with parents, faculty, staff, and sometimes even alumni to stage a full-length musical! Community is central to Wakefield.

Here at Wakefield, we strive to maintain a strong, engaged, and active community in which to educate and raise our children. Experience has shown that that is accomplished when our community members are A.V.I.D.: in other words, when they Attend, Volunteer, Invite, and Donate. The collaboration of students, parents, faculty, staff, Board, and alumni on furthering the shared goals of the school is a treasured aspect of the Wakefield experience.
