Experiential Learning
Unique to the Middle School, the Experiential Learning Program takes advantage of the social and developmental needs of kids in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. The year-long program lets students take risks, but keeps a strong safety net in place beneath them.
Students in each of the three Middle School grades participate in thematic and age-appropriate experiential challenges throughout the year.
The program engages and encourages the whole student: the thinker, the creator, the adventurer, and the public servant. These opportunities are often best afforded through non-traditional, off-campus events designed to push and encourage students to stretch themselves outside of their comfort zones. To be immersed in the experience of doing something unusual, something challenging, something out of the everyday, can spark a young person’s imagination and motivation in ways for which textbooks can only strive, and lecturers dream.
