Education Ana Maria was born in Medellín, Colombia, and always wanted to teach others. Upon graduating from UPB, she worked as a teacher in her alma mater and transitioned to university-level teaching while working at the Centro Colombo Americano, a prominent bicultural institution. It was a fast-track career for her, which catapulted Ana to pursue her Master's Degree. On her first day at WVU, she met the love of her life, and upon her graduation, they moved to Virginia. Ana took time to raise her two babies, and then she resumed her career. Ana has been a Lower, Middle, and Upper School Spanish teacher at Wakefield School for the past two decades. Ana has served as a Department Chair for ten years and as a librarian for the past two. She has cultivated a deep connection with the institution as her two sons attended and graduated from Wakefield. Beyond the classroom, Ana is a multifaceted individual with a love for tennis, a talent for playing the flute, and an active member of her church, where she contributes as a volunteer. Her passion for travel has allowed her to explore and learn about diverse cultures. Ana's journey is a beautiful blend of professional accomplishments and a rich personal life filled with love, music, sports, and a curiosity to embrace the world. |
