Education Mr. Genther has been teaching at Wakefield since 1986, following a six-year career as a professional artist. He began with just three Upper School students, along with the fifth and sixth grades, consuming 7.5 hours of his weekly schedule. By the third year, he expanded the department, instructing pre-k through eighth-grade students twice a week, in addition to 15 Upper School students. As an adjunct teacher for Photography and Advanced Topic students, he can teach what he wants and how he wants, allowing him to facilitate students who map a journey individually tailored to their artistic personalities. He resides in the Shenandoah Valley on a working 5-acre organic farm with Terry, his wife of 45 years, who recently retired from a 40-year career in education. They have three children, Kristofer, Demetria, and Anikka, all lifers at Wakefield, two of whom are also in the education field. Time is filled with family, travel, renovation, farm duties, 2 Russell Terriers, as well as good wine and cheese. |
