Education
MS in Early Childhood Education, Old Dominion University, 2002

With a teaching career spanning 21 years, Amy Garst has worked in various public and private school settings, instructing students from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Amy also contributed her expertise at the collegiate level, dedicating three years to teaching education courses to students at Illinois State University. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be an elementary school teacher and has enjoyed getting to know many students and their families. For Amy, the relationships she builds while teaching are of utmost importance. Outside of teaching, Amy can often be found baking treats for friends and family, taking long walks with her dog, Lucky, and enjoying moments with her family, especially her two young nephews. Amy also dedicates time to volunteering at Hope and Serenity Farm Sanctuary to stay connected to the community and foster her love of animals.
