After spending 10 years at home raising her first two children (Hayden, Wakefield '25 and Charlie, Wakefield '26,) Emily began a career in special education. She worked as an assistant in a K-2 autism classroom in Loudoun County while earning her master's degree in special education and later taught the K-2 autism class at Hovatter Elementary in Aldie. Life took an unexpected and joyous turn with the birth of her third child, Tommy, in the fall of 2022, and Emily took time away from teaching to once again focus on her family. As a Wakefield parent, she was excited to be offered an opportunity to join the faculty this year as the lower and middle school education specialist. She is delighted to once again be helping children reach their full potential and to be a part of such a special community. Outside of Wakefield, Emily can be found chasing after her busy toddler, her two golden retrievers Sulley and Buoy, and her mischievous cat, Ollie. Whenever she finds a quiet moment, she loves to curl up with a good book.
