Middle School Technology
The goal of our Middle School technology curriculum is to introduce students to the practical applications and effective use of technology in todays world. While we have specific courses focusing on technology concepts and skills, the use of technology is integrated throughout all of our classes, from Lower School through to Upper School. Technology is a tool that is to be used to enhance the learning process throughout a student's academic career.
Middle School Courses
In sixth grade, through our Google Apps 2.0 course, students expand upon the practical skills they were first introduced to in Lower School by delving more deeply into Google's suite of productivity tools and the collaborative benefits of cloud-based computing. We explore Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides and ultimately create a digital portfolio using Google Sites. Before students are let loose upon the digital world, however, they receive extensive instruction on Digital Citizenship and making responsible choices.
In seventh grade, students are introduced to Graphic Communications and Adobe's Creative Suite software. In this course they learn to manipulate images and explore the use of technology in the field of marketing.
Our Middle School curriculum concludes with our eighth grade course, Introduction to Computer Science and Programming. In this class student learn about Computer Science concepts and theories as well as rudimentary computer programming.
