Student Life Experience
Our Upper Schoolers seek out opportunities to test themselves and to assume roles that require leadership and responsibility. Therefore, Wakefield offers a variety of activities to capture our students' individual interests. These extracurriculars include Model UN, Robotics, World Language clubs, Student Government, the Thespian Society, and many, many, more.
In addition, at Wakefield we have grade-based focus areas to provide direction for each class regarding extracurricular activities:
- Freshman year focuses on life skills. Students participate in seminars on topics such as financial literacy, health and wellness, public speaking, etc., intended to round out the youngest of our Upper Schoolers and prepare them for what lies ahead.
- Sophomores are encouraged to go beyond themselves into the community, locally and globally, providing community service at the Fauquier Food Bank or volunteering at the Rainbow Therapeutic Riding Center.
- Junior Year begins the process of truly defining one's passions. We have an incredible network of professionals in the Washington metro area in varied fields that spend time with similar interested students. We also have a speaker series and an internship program.
- Senior Year is all about pursuing your passions, grounded in the senior thesis project that highlights each senior's personal passion.
