Wakefield Parents' Association
Wakefield's Parents' Association (WPA) is an active and energetic organization for parents of Wakefield students. This all-volunteer group sponsors several events and activities throughout the year to foster a cooperative and cohesive spirit in our community, bring our families together, and support our teachers. All parents are welcomed and encouraged to be involved, as much or as little as they are able. There are many opportunities to match parents' interests and availability.
All parents are members of the WPA. Dues of $50 per family are collected with your tuition billing in July.
WPA Meeting Dates
September 15, 2017
December 8, 2017
March 2, 2018
Monthly meetings are held in the board room in Archwood House at 8:30 a.m. All parents are invited to attend.
Wakefield School needs and wants its parents to be involved in the effort to make their children's experience at their school as interesting, fun, and memorable as possible. Serving as a Room or Grade Parent is an important gift to our school, our faculty, and our students. Room parents in the Lower School help the teachers run curriculum based events and occasional class parties. Middle and Upper School parents help the school run key events such as the Middle School Closing and Graduation.
The Owl's Outlet is our on-campus store for branded items, "spirit wear," and other Fighting Owl gifts for the Wakefield community. The Outlet is located on the main level of the Roberts Building. The store also offers staple items, such as school ties and patches. The Owl's Outlet is open Monday mornings from 8:00 a.m.-8:45 a.m. and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., as well as during some of our all-school events. Go Owls!
Used Uniform Store:
The Used Uniform Store collects and sells gently used uniforms for all grades at great prices. The store is located near the Owl's Outlet in the Roberts Building and is open Monday mornings from 8:00 a.m.to 8:45 a.m. and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. All proceeds support our school wide events.
This fun dinner is held to welcome new families into our community and give returning families an opportunity to reconnect at the beginning of the school year. This is a purely social event. Come spend a relaxing evening with new and old friends.
Donuts with Dad:
Dads are invited to enjoy coffee and donuts with the children, fellow dads, and teachers. It's a great morning not to be missed.
This is one event you have to see to believe! One of our best-loved traditions, Spooktacular offers families a fun, safe, and friendly place to celebrate Halloween. Decorations abound as families enjoy trunk-or-treating, face painting, laser tag, cotton candy, and much, much more.
Join friends and families for a night of free bingo. Parents donate fabulous baskets for all ages and interests to be given as prizes. Ten exciting games of bingo are played throughout the evening. Delicious food is offered for purchase by our parent partners, the Boosters. It's always a fun evening for all.
Muffins with Mom:
A special morning just for the ladies. Moms join their children for a breakfast of muffins, coffee, tea, juice, and fruit.
Teacher Appreciation Week:
We love our teachers! They work incredibly hard for our children and deserve all of the appreciation we can provide. Parent volunteers organize surprises throughout the year and for Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring.
