A Nervous Arrival

On a recent Friday morning, all the Wakefield fourth graders donned old-fashioned clothes representing citizens from foreign countries…quite a change from their standard uniforms…and landed on Ellis Island South (a.k.a. Wakefield’s campus). Some carried trunks, baskets, cloth bags, and blankets with their few worldly possessions, including money, a passport, food, and a “tool of their trade”.

On Friday, May 1st, several upper and middle school students donned costumes and took part in Fauquier County's 250th Anniversary Celebration.
