Cub Scouts...Ready? Steady? Go!

March 1, 2010

The Wakefield Cub Scout Pack held its annual Pinewood Derby event in the Dining Hall this past Sunday, February 28, and it was quite an event.

There were over 20 cars competing in this year's Derby and the cars came in all shapes, sizes, and colors. It was obvious to everyone in attendance how hard the boys worked on their cars. The cub scouts had been working on their cars at home with their families since December.
Families and friends cheered loudly as the cars raced down the track in the heats It was a great afternoon of racing and good sportsmanship!

Congratulations to all of our cub scouts! You made everyone involved in cub scouts at Wakefield very proud.

Cub Scouting at Wakefield means "doing". Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys (grades 1 - 5) doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting - citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. The boys in Wakefield's Cub Scout Pack work very hard all year in their individual dens earning their individual den badges (Tiger - 1st grade, Wolf - 2nd grade, Bear - 3rd grade, Webelos 1 - 4th grade, and Webelos 2 - 5th grade). Parent involvement is key to the success and enjoyment the cub scouts have in scouting and we have many Wakefield parent volunteers involved with Pack 1153. Thank you to all of our volunteer leaders and helpers who help make a difference every day!
