Treptow Library (6-12)

The Treptow Family Library and Research Center was completed in December 2006.

The Library is located on the first level of the new Library, Science, and Technology Building. In the classic Wakefield School style, the Middle and Upper School students moved the library, book by book, from its former location (now the dining hall).

The Diana Muss Reading Room offers comfortable seating in a glass enclosed area with a panoramic vista of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This area features a collection of Fine Arts books achieved through donations in the memory of Diana Muss, a beloved parent and volunteer.

There are three conference rooms that are used in tutoring, quiet study, and for meetings. For research, there is a computer lab with 12 workstations and additional student workstations in the main library area. These computers offer an on-line catalog of the Library Collection as well as a diverse selection of current and comprehensive databases that support the students' research.

Wakefield subscribes to several online databases which students in all three Divisions use in researching their papers and theses. Some of these databases are used by colleges and universities and are providing our students with far-ranging and properly-vetted information that will ensure their work will be accurate and complete. The Diana Muss Reading Room

The Diana Muss Reading Room is wrapped on two sides by windows overlooking Wakefield’s spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, rolling hills, and farmland, providing an inviting atmosphere in which to read and reflect. The area has comfortable furniture, ambient light and is one in which the upper and middle school students enjoy gathering.

Named in honor of Diana Muss, a mother and volunteer, the reading room was presented when the Treptow Library opened in the winter of 2007.
