Fall Sports for School Year 2010-2011

Sarah McDonough - Co-ed Varsity Cross Country Coach

Coach McDonough has been coaching cross country since 1997.  She competed at the high school and college level in both track and cross country and continues to compete in marathons and shorter road races.  The team focuses on a balance of team and individual achievement  with the primary goal being for students to develop a lifelong appreciation for the benefits of running.  Our team is comprised of athletes who are accomplished runners as well as students who are brand new to the sport.

When not running and/or fulfilling her responsibilities as Director of Admissions and Financial Aid here at Wakefield, she enjoys spending time with her family.

In his spare time, he still enjoys competing in USTA open tournaments, as well as wakeboarding, hiking, and being with loved ones.

Dan Hayes - Boys' Varsity Soccer Coach

Coach Dan Hayes grew up playing travel soccer in Northern Va and Central Michigan.  He played for Ludington High School and has played Premier Indoor and Outdoor soccer all over Virginia for the past 8 years. Coach Dan has coached competitive Girls' and Boys' travel soccer for the past 5 years.  He is the Director of Coaching for Madison Youth Soccer and is on staff as a Travel coach and Trainer for Fauquier County Soccer Club. Coach Dan currently works with players of all ages, both male and female.  "I have a passion for helping our young players learn the game, and develop their own sense of play, but it's my competitive side that draws me to coaching the older age groups.  It's this level of competition that develops creativity and a player's style of play." Coach Hayes is licensed with USSF and NSCAA.

My other passions are spending time with my young family and our newest addition Belle Grace Hayes. Bowhunting and fishing fill any other free time I have.
